Vaniyambadi Muslim Educational Society

First Impressions

The Vaniyambadi Muslim Educational Society was established in 1901, soon after the Fifteenth session of the All-India Mohammedan Educational Conference at Madras. Janab Moudu Mohammed Ibrahim Saahib, Janab Malayalam Ameenuddin Sahib, Sailappai abdul Khader Sahib and Janab Vavagani Mohammed Ebrahim Ahib played pivotal roles in founding the Society.

With the untiring efforts, the society started Islamiah School in 1903. It was recognized by the Government the same year. It imparted secular education based on the syllabus, prescribed by the Government, along with religious instructions. The school obtained the status of high School in 1912. The society was all prepared to open a college in 1915, but it was delayed due to First World War; and eventually, the college was established in 1919.

Janab Nawab Ghulam Ahmed Kalami Sahib and Janab Yakoob Hasan Sait Sahib, although they did not belong to Vaniyambadi, they took very keen and personal interest in the establishment of the school and college. Their vast knowledge and experience in educational matters was very much helpful in obtaining the affiliation to these institutions as per the Government Norms. Janab Takadi Badruddin Sahib played a leading role in the establishing the above institutions.

Janab Takadi Badruddin Sahib, Janab Hyath Batcha Sahib, Janab T. Ameenuddin Sahib, Nawab C. Abdul Hakeem Sahib, Janab Merit Mohammed Ismail Sahib, Janab M. Abdur Rahman Sahib, Janab CL Abdul Subhan Sahib, Janab Kaka Md. Ismail Sahib and Janab Jalal Abdul KarimSahib were both philanthropists and visionaries who helped these institutions stand on firm foundations

Janab Takadi Badruddin Sahib and Janab Hayath Batcha Sahib were instrumental in the construction of land mark building of Islamiah Boys Higher Secondary School.

The relentless efforts of Janab ML Abdul Jabbar Sahib for the cause of women education eventually bore fruit and the Middle school of girls was established in 1957. Janab Motoor Nazeer Ahmed Sahib took keen interest in upgrading this school into a High School, and helped the girls of our community have higher education.

Islamiah Industrial Training Centre was started in 1984, and it was sponsored by Islamic Development Bank, Jeddah with a princely grant. This project was realized by the unflagging efforts of janab Kaka Mohammed Umer Sahib, of Oomerabad. Janab Malayalam Anver Sahib contributed his experience and knowledge to this institute for more than two decades.

Islamiah woments Arts & Science College was established in 1997 by the untiring efforts of then General Secretary Janab Kaka Mohammed zubair Sahib.

Apart form the above mentioned personalities, there were innumerable others who contributed their best. With their foresight, initiative and dynamism they created the necessary infrastructure to provide education on modern lines to the new generation of not only our community but also to all other communities.

We offer our gratitude to them for making the Vaniyambadi Muslim Educational Society a major provider of educational irrespective of caste, creed, community or religion. Almost every family in Vaniyambadi has been impacted by the contribution of the Society. At present six educational institutions under the Society have around 10,000 students both boys and girls and around 500 strong and dedicated teaching and non teaching staff members.
